It’s a boy! No more waiting, wondering or guessing. What a great surprise to welcome Henry into such an amazing and supportive family. Henry is his parent’s first child and there is no question that he will get all the love that he needs. Everyone was thrilled and excited, even grandma and grandpa who often attended the scheduled prenatal visits.
Our HazelTree team was especially appreciative for how well educated and informed his parents were about birth and the whole delivery process. Late in pregnancy, for reasons beyond anyone’s control, Henry’s mama was transferred into the care of Dr. Nathan Meltzer at Valley Hospital.
He was born in the hospital and was welcomed into the world by both his parents, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles; all who were ready to shower him with love. Kim and Krysta, along with a wonderful doula were also there to meet Henry at his arrival.
Henry was born on November 16th, 2016 at 11:30 a.m.
Mylo’s family was such a joy to partner with. Her mom stayed active throughout her pregnancy and was very diligent to eat healthy and nutritious food. Taking good care of her body led to a very favorable labor and birth. By the way, she’s an expert “hula hoop dancer” with such grace and ease that it is breathtaking to watch. She is also a very calm mama and it was incredibly peaceful to be present at Mylo’s birth.
Mylo entered this world at 1:35 a.m. on October 25, 2016. She was born in her home, into the water of a birthing pool and was welcomed by her amazing mama, daddy and her grandmother. Mylo’s big brother slept through it all! When he woke up, he had a new baby sister. What an adorable little baby girl!
Mylo weighed exactly 8 pounds and measured 21 inches tall.
She is her parent’s second child, first girl and their first HazelTree Baby.
It is so wonderful to have instant love and trust with families in our care. This amazing family recently moved to Coeur d’Alene and came into care with HazelTree in the final trimester of pregnancy.
While the goal was a natural home birth, Dominic’s mom developed pregnancy complications that warranted an early hospital delivery. Under the exceptional care of Dr.Brown and with Kim in full support, Dominic was born on October 8th, 2016 at Valley Hospital. He was a healthy baby and would soon be welcomed into his family and the tribe of his brothers and sister.
Being new in town and without many connections, Kysta had the privilege of watching the kids while mom and dad had the freedom to focus on the birth of little Dominic.
Dominic weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 18 inches tall. He is his parent’s fifth child and fourth boy. He is well loved and adorable!
Unfortunately we do not have a photo of Dominic. But trust me! He’s magnificent!!!
Our HazelTree team bonded immediately with this family. California natives, they were in Coeur d’Alene for dad’s summer job at Gozzer Ranch & Resort. What originally started as simply filling in some prenatal visits, soon became a trusting friendship. Out of this friendship and trust came the desire to remain here in North Idaho and give birth to their second daughter.
Sweet Jacy was born on September 6, 2016. While the goal was a natural birth, it turned out to be a challenging labor. She was born with the help of an amazing team at Kootenai Medical Center and Doctor Julie Meltzer. What a little bundle of joy Jacy is.
Jacy is the second child in her family and is adored by her parent’s and big sister.
With eighteen minutes into the new day, little Violet Whimsey made her arrival into this world. Not knowing yet, her parents discovered that their third child would be a precious little girl. Her name, Violet Whimsey brings the quality of being fantastic, playful and fanciful.
This matches the tone of the evening she was born, as it was certainly a captivating and whimsical birth. It was a rather quiet and calm evening for a beautiful and memorable water birth, her mom and dad so close and eager to pour out all their love into their new little one. Sweet Violet has a big sister and big brother who are head over heals in love with her, and who are ready to show her the ropes of life.
What a joy and delight to partner with Violet’s mom through the entire pregnancy! Violet Whimsey was born on September 5, 2016 at 12:18 a.m. She weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces and measured 19 inches tall. She is her parent’s third baby, second girl and first HazelTree baby.
Archer Valentino decided that it was time to begin the new week with his arrival. His due date was July 4th, but Archer didn’t want any competition on his birthday, and without his mother’s permission he enjoyed womb-time for another week.
When Archer decided to come, there was no time for getting a music play list ready or for waiting around. His mom and dad were ready and at 10:03 a.m. on July 11, 2016 he entered the world with strong, loud and healthy vocals.
He naturally stole his parents’ hearts, as well as his older sister’s, who will now have a little brother to play with and enjoy.
What a sweet bundle and a very loved gift! Archer weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces and measured 20.5 inches tall. He is his parent’s second child, their first boy and their first HazelTree Baby.
Sweet Lincoln made his debut on July 10, 2016 at 5:52 a.m.
During their labor, his determined parents worked so very hard and well together. Here is a picture of their labor dance. The HazelTree team was humbled by the strength of Lincoln’s mama. After many hours of strong laboring and pulling out all the stops with midwife tricks, a change of atmosphere was in order. Lincoln needed the good help of the labor and delivery team at Kootanai Medical Center to be born.
This handsome boy was well worth the effort! Lincoln weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 20.75 inches tall. He is his parent’s first boy, second child and second HazelTree Baby.
Lincoln’s big sister, is so excited to continue being mama’s helper now that little brother is here!
At 4:45am on July 20th, 2016, baby Bowen made his swift entrance into the world. His dad won’t ever forget the early morning miracle of catching his son in his arms as the birth team raced to get there. Bowen weighed 10 pounds and 6 ounces and measured 21.5 inches tall. He is his parents third child and first HazelTree baby. What a sweet addition to this wonderful family.
Just as mama and Bowen were being tucked into bed for some special bonding time, our HazelTree team received a phone call from another mama who was in labor just down the block! And so if nobody moves houses, Bowen will have a neighbor with exactly the same birthday he has. How cool is that? Never a dull moment for a midwife!
The HazelTree team was just up the street when we received the much anticipated phone call. It was “go time” and little Wesley was ready for his big debut. About four hours later, his parents were joyfully welcoming him into the world. It was a brilliant morning and his parents were so proud!
Wesley was born on July 20th at 9:21am into his daddy’s arms. His strong mama had a great labor and worked so hard. He weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and was 21.5 inches tall. If nobody moves houses, Wesley will have a neighbor with exactly the same birthday he has.
He is his parent’s second son and their second HazelTree Baby.
What a pleasure meeting this new little one and remembering his big brother’s birth from two years ago!
Finally! HazelTree Midwifery’s first girl of the year! Miss Scarlett was born 1/31/2016 at 5:01 a.m. She weight 7lbs 14oz. and is the 3rd daughter and fourth child in her family. Her birth day was awesome and one that the HazelTree Midwifery team will never forget.
When we arrived to Scarlett’s home, we found her mama laboring in the living room on a birth ball, earbuds in place, listening to her music and oblivious to all the crazy goings on around her. Her husband and father in law were frantically trying to get the birth pool filled with water and had run into issues with the hot water heater. They were back and forth fetching tools, tripping over the hose, mopping up spilled water, etc. There was a bit of male angst going on, to say the least. At one point, their LARGE Rottweiler came bounding through the house, wiggling all over, happy to greet everyone, slobbering on everything and putting his nose where it shouldn’t be! 😉 He was so cute & friendly but totally in the way.
Through all this pandemonium, Scarlett’s mama was totally Zen…sitting on her yoga ball, listening to her music, beautifully working with her body and letting the contractions do their job. I don’t think she even opened her eyes. In her own little bubble, she was peaceful and introspective the entire time.
Scarlett didn’t give anyone time to get the birth pool filled before she decided, “OK. I’m ready to be born now.” Her mama changed her body position to better accommodate Scarlett’s passage, and before we could hardly get our gloves on, here she came!
After her arrival and since the menfolk had worked so hard to get the darned pool filled, we changed the plan up a bit, filled it with warm water and added a delightfully healing, beautifully smelling herbal sitz tea to it. I think this photo shows very well how much Miss Scarlett was enjoying her first bath.
